“The role of the Osteopath is to facilitate the body’s self healing process.”

– Andrew Taylor Still, founder of Osteopathy

Good health brings a calm mind, which in turn brings inner strength and self-confidence.

Let’s discuss your health

Background/Back Story

Before starting my career in Osteopathy I was a personal trainer and nutrition coach.  My interest in wellness may have begun due to health issues I have experienced, starting at a young age.  When I was very young I developed what is commonly known as osgood-schlatters in both of my knees.  One day I woke up and the swelling in my knees was so bad I could hardly bend them at all.  I remember a visit to a chiropractor, and that may have sparked my interest in manual therapy.

Years later while traveling and working abroad I injured my back, which was so debilitating I had to quit my job for a period of time.  I began to exercise and that led to a greater interest in fitness, health, and wellness. I went on to work in the health and fitness industry as a personal trainer and nutrition coach for about 5 years.  I worked with people of all ages and fitness levels and some sports specific athletes.

During this time period I met an Osteopath who helped me and some of my clients through injuries.  I had seen a variety of therapists by this point but I was the most impressed with how quickly I saw improvement in my health after seeing him, and the changes made seemed to have a lasting impact.

I decided to pursue an education in Osteopathy and went ahead to study at the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy – a 4200 hour program, and earned my Master’s in Practice of Osteopathic Manipulative Sciences.  After graduation I have continued to stay involved with the CAO as an instructor teaching clinical and academic rotations.  Teaching osteopathy is both rewarding and challenging as it requires the ability to explain things ranging from mechanical principles, anatomy and physiology, philosophy of osteopathy, and so on.

My experience of personal health issues, coaching exercise and nutrition, and teaching osteopathy are what gives me a unique perspective on health that I apply to my clinical practice.
